Duchess had Anal atresia, a congenital anomaly in which the anus is lacking the normal opening.
This tiny kitten was part of a hoarding situation that Stay Paws was assisting. Duchess was found in very bad shape and was brought to our wellness clinic. It was discovered that she was severely impacted due to her inability to defecate. She was then brought to a specialist who determined she had Anal atresia, a congenital anomaly in which the anus is lacking the normal opening. Duchess was in need of a life-saving surgery.
Can you give to help us cover Duchess's medical care and surgery? We cannot save kittens like Duchess without your selfless support.
While Duchess's condition is rare, kittens and cats are brought to our clinic everyday with major and minor medical issues.
Each one of them deserves the best chance at life.
DUCHESS UPDATE 8/17/21
Duchess has been resting up in her foster home. Her surgery went well, and she now has the proper opening to be able to relieve herself. Her foster recently brought her in for a check up and enema as she needed some help alleviating her initial constipation. We believe this is temporary and Duchess will be like any normal kitten very soon!
Pics from her recent visit to the @sgvaa clinic within our facility are below.
Oh, and Duchess is available for adoption!
